Subject and Predicate

Identify the subject and predicate in common English sentences.

The subject names the person, place, thing, or idea discussed in the sentence. The predicate contains the verb and provides information about the subject. Example: My older brother works in a hospital. Subject: My older brother Predicate: works in a hospital The complete subject may contain modifiers. The complete predicate may contain objects, complements, and adverbial information.
